Can you afford to wait?

Seeing headlines about the financial challenges of hospital boards and the resultant effects on hospital waiting lists, is not new.

One of the recent headlines however that did not get a lot of attention was the cessation of elective surgery during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

What does that mean?

Quite simply – if you are in pain and waiting for surgery on that waiting list, you may well be in pain and on the waiting list for a lot longer than previously!

Increasingly we are hearing about people undergoing treatment for cancer, finding that the drug that really would make a difference is just not funded by the government purchasing agency Pharmac.

So, what can we do to prevent that long wait and cost of drugs that are not funded by the government?

Well a “Basic Cover” health cover with a major health insurer will get that essential operation off the waiting list and into the operating theatre as soon as possible – and if there is a need to purchase drugs not available through the government purchasing agency – we can cover that as well.

There are also a number of other covers and premium options available to assist with our budget and make premiums affordable.
